The Fatih Mosque in Pforzheim was built from 1990 to 1992 as the first mosque in Baden-Württemberg. The mosque association is the "Türkisch-islamische Union der Anstalt für Religion Pforzheim e.V." in the umbrella organization DITIB. The prayer hall holds 750 people, of which the women's gallery holds 150.
The Fatih Mosque is designed as a "domed mosque" with a 23 meter high minaret. The foundation stone was laid on March 17, 1990, and the mosque was inaugurated on September 26, 1992. The planning was carried out by Gökcen Sungurtekin. The construction costs amounted to 5.5 million marks. A collection by the Protestant and Catholic churches of Pforzheim, which donated a chandelier for the prayer hall, was controversial. The "Office for Religious Affairs in Turkey" contributed 125,000 marks and the city of Pforzheim a donation of 4,000 marks.
