Facts and practical information

The Cumberland Monument was erected on the island of Norderney on June 6, 2002. It is a replica of the original from 1866, which was destroyed in 1938 when an attempt was made to move it.

The monument has the shape of a small obelisk standing on a square pedestal. On each of the four sides of the pedestal there is a reference to a member of the Royal House of Hanover: Ernst August, Crown Prince of Hanover, George V King of Hanover, his father, Marie, Queen of Hanover, his mother, Ernst August I King of Hanover, his grandfather
