Church of the Redeemer, Verl
Facts and practical information
The Lutheran Church of the Redeemer Verl is a hall church built in 1951 in the East Westphalian town of Verl in the district of Gütersloh. The parish belongs to the church district of Gütersloh within the Evangelical Church of Westphalia.
The church is located on Paul-Gerhardt-Straße in the center of Verl and was built due to the increased number of believers after the Second World War. At that time, numerous displaced persons and refugees from the eastern provinces of the former German Reich became residents of Verl. Initially, Verl was a parish district of the Evangelical Parish of Friedrichsdorf, but it was not until 1971 that an independent parish was established.
The stained glass windows and a wooden altar were designed in 2009 by the artist Oswald Krause-Rischard.
The parish also includes the Church of the Resurrection in the Sürenheide district of Verl.
