Kontumazgarten, Nuremberg
Facts and practical information
Cutumazgarten - a park in Nuremberg in the Kleinweidenmühle district south of the Pegnitz River and west of the city walls, founded in the 15th century. In the Middle Ages, there was a quarantine station for newcomers, called Cutumazanstalt, along with the surrounding garden. In the Second Margrab War 1552, the buildings were razed to the ground to enable the fire of the Margrave city of Margrave leading from its defensive walls. In 1669, Georg Vargeth built a palace here and founded a baroque garden. The park was renewed in 1960 and 2017. On the north side of the river is the Hallerwiese Park.
