Christuskirche Wanne, Herne
Facts and practical information
The Christuskirche is a Protestant church in the Wanne district of the city of Herne, at Hauptstraße 245. The neo-Gothic style building was built in 1886 and 1887 according to a design by the architect Gerhard August Fischer from Barme. Fischer had previously been responsible for several new church buildings in neighboring Bochum and for the church of St. Boniface in Herne, of which only the tower remains after severe war damage. In 1895/1896, he was also responsible for the construction of the new St. John's Lutheran Church in Eickel.
The Christuskirche and the associated vicarage were entered in the list of monuments of the city of Herne on April 10, 1987 as a listed building within the meaning of the NRW Monument Protection Act.
