Burg Wilenstein, Trippstadt
Facts and practical information
Wilenstein Castle, also called Wilenstein-Flörsheim Castle, rarely called Willenstein, is the partially restored ruin of a 12th-century hilltop castle in the Kaiserslautern district of Rhineland-Palatinate.
The original single castle Wilenstein later became a double castle complex together with the lower castle Flörsheim, which was built in the middle of the 14th century by the Lords of Flersheim. During the Thirty Years' War, the entire ensemble was considerably damaged in 1633/34.
Today, only the remains of the walls of the former double castle are preserved, most of which belong to the upper castle.
