Schloss Bloemersheim
Facts and practical information
Bloemersheim Castle is a moated castle near Neukirchen-Vluyn, one of the most impressive complexes in the Wesel district. Nearby is Schloss Leyenburg.
The estate, which dates back to the late Middle Ages, was acquired in 1802 by Friedrich Heinrich von der Leyen, a silk producer from Krefeld, from Friedrich August von Pelden. It is still the ancestral seat of the Barons von der Leyen and the seat of an estate administration.
The chateau is accessible only during rare cultural events, but the rear side facing the chateau pond can be easily viewed from a popular bike path.
