Mariä Himmelfahrt

Facts and practical information

The parish church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in the Upper Bavarian municipality of Fridolfing is considered the largest village church in Germany, which is why it is also known as the Cathedral of the Salzach Valley. The church was built from 1891 to 1893 in the neo-Romanesque style. Because of its young age, it is not classified as a village church in terms of art history. As a rule, this only includes buildings from the Middle Ages.
