Wisentgehege Springe
Facts and practical information
The Wisentgehege Springe is a wildlife park in the south of the Hannover region near the town of Springe in Lower Saxony. On the 90-hectare site between Eldagsen and Springe in the Saupark Springe, 109 animal species are kept. It shows regionally typical animals in the natural habitat of the northern low mountain range sill, whose landscape is characterized by oak and beech forests, with alder swamps, ponds, meadows and streams. The facility, which originated from the conservation breeding of bison, has been further developed for the conservation breeding of other highly endangered game species and today, by means of various facilities such as the falconry and wolf enclosure, serves especially for environmental education. The bearers of the bison enclosure are the Niedersächsische Landesforsten, an institution under public law.
