Münster-Therme, Düsseldorf
Facts and practical information
The Münster-Therme is an indoor swimming pool in the North Rhine-Westphalian state capital Düsseldorf. The building was built in a block inner courtyard on Münsterstraße in the district of Pempelfort in the second row and can be reached via a small passage between two houses.
It was originally opened on April 9, 1902 and at that time was in the tradition of public baths. The Art Nouveau style building was badly damaged by bomb hits during World War II, but reopened as early as 1945. In the following decades, the swimming pool was rebuilt again and again, but the character of the Wilhelminian period was largely preserved. After extensive renovation in 2003, the bath was reopened under the new name Münster-Therme.
On December 23, 1997, the indoor swimming pool was entered in the city's list of monuments in the category of buildings for art, culture, science and sport. Due to its atmosphere and its offers in the field of wellness and recreation, the bath occupies a special position in the landscape of Düsseldorf's swimming pools.
