Facts and practical information
Breitenburg Castle in Breitenburg is one of the most important secular buildings in the Steinburg district and was one of the political and cultural centers of Schleswig-Holstein in the 16th and 17th centuries.
The two-winged complex has been expanded and rebuilt from a fortified Renaissance residence to a historicist country estate over its nearly 500-year architectural history. Because it is still family owned and occupied today, it is open to the public on a limited basis.
