Facts and practical information
The Jesus Christ Church in Meinerzhagen was built around 1220 as a Romanesque pier basilica with galleries, and was Gothically expanded in the 15th century with a transept. Structural changes in modern times were largely reversed in several phases of renovation. In the Middle Ages, the church served as a pilgrimage church. Since the Reformation, it has been a Protestant parish church. It was now simply called the "Old Church". It was not until 1967 that it was given the name Jesus Christ Church.
