The Altburg is a Celtic castle complex near Bundenbach in Hunsrück. It is located on a plateau of about one hectare high above the Hahnenbach valley. The small castle was used by inhabitants of the Celtic people of the Treverians in the 2nd and 1st centuries BC. On a hill opposite is the ruin of the Schmidtburg. In the immediate vicinity is the abandoned Herrenberg slate mine, which is now used as an exhibition mine.
