Amtsgarten, Magdeburg
Facts and practical information
Amtsgarten Ottersleben, also called Böckelmannscher Park, is a public park of the city of Magdeburg in the district of Ottersleben.
The park has a size of 2.5 ha and is designed as an English landscape garden with deliberately individually planted trees. It was laid out in 1874 by the factory owner, farmer and owner of the manor Wilhelm August Böckelmann, whose villa, built in 1893, is located in the park.
The park has a spring ditch with a pond-like extension that flows into the Klinke River at Ottersleber Teich.
The park, surrounded by a natural stone wall, originally also included a kitchen garden, a well house, and a summer house with a playground.
During the time of the GDR, the villa was used as a youth hostel. Currently, it is home to a youth education center.
