Wissenschaftspark Gelsenkirchen, Gelsenkirchen
Facts and practical information
The Science Park Gelsenkirchen is a project of the International Building Exhibition Emscher-Park located at Munscheidstraße 14 in Gelsenkirchen. Under the motto "Working in the Park", an approximately 300-meter-long glazed building was erected on the site of the former Gelsenkirchen cast steel and iron works Munscheid & Co in Gelsenkirchen-Ückendorf, in which several office wings are located. Directly adjacent to the building, a small park with a lake has been created, which has quickly become a popular local recreation destination. A solar power plant is located on the roof of the building. An originally planned second construction phase and the addition of a hall for congresses to the building were not carried out.
