The Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Mary on the Stiftberg next to the Luttenberg in Herford, Westphalia, traces its origins to a small chapel of St. Michael built nearby on the site of a pre-Christian place of worship. It is colloquially referred to as the "Stiftberg Church." It was formerly also known as St. Mary's on the Mountain. The church was the church of the Stift auf dem Berge in the Middle Ages and early modern times.
