Weissenfels Castle Neu-Augustusburg in Saxony-Anhalt was the residence of the Dukes of Saxony-Weissenfels, a secondary dynasty of the Electorate of Saxony Wettins, from 1680 to 1746.
The well-preserved early Baroque building with its important castle church of St. Trinitatis is considered a nationally valuable cultural monument.
Today, the castle houses the Museum Weißenfels. In addition to an exhibition on shoe craftsmanship, which goes back to the GDR shoe museum that has been housed there since 1964, a redesigned exhibition on the Duchy of Saxony-Weißenfels has also been on display since 2007.
