The Gerd-Walter-Linde is a linden tree that stands near the Ulm district of Söflingen as a solitary on the Hochsträß. The tree is visible for miles over Ulm.
The tree was named after the conservationist Gerd Walter from Ulm. He planted the linden tree on Hochsträß in 1950 after returning from World War II. Walter had bought the young tree with collected 50-penny coins, which were reissued in the course of the currency reform in West Germany starting in 1949. On these, a kneeling woman is depicted planting an tree, symbolizing the reconstruction of Germany after World War II.
