Dolmar
Facts and practical information
The Dolmar is a 739.6 m above sea level extinct volcano of the Werra Geuplatten about 2 km northwest of Kühndorf in the Thuringian district of Schmalkalden-Meiningen.
As a geological spur of the Rhön, the mountain forms a singularity in the northern Werra meadowlands, which lie between the Rhön in the southwest and the Thuringian Forest in the northeast. It is the name giver of the administrative community Dolmar-Salzbrücke and the company Dolmar, the first manufacturer of gasoline chainsaws. On it there are ring wall traces, the Charlottenhaus and the airfield Dolmar-Kühndorf. Basalt was mined in the past.
