Facts and practical information
The Bismarck Tower in Constance, with a height of 22.8 meters, is the highest Bismarck Tower in the state of Baden-Württemberg. It is located on the Raiteberg, which is 452 meters above sea level.
Like other Bismarck towers, it was erected in honor of the "founder of the Reich" Otto von Bismarck and was intended to form a border monument visible from afar in Constance on the southern edge of the German Reich. Until 1944/45, fires were lit there annually on Bismarck's birthday on April 1 in the fire bowls on the roof and the pedestal bases. Until 2007, the Lake Constance chapter of the "Deutscher Amateur-Radio-Club e. V." operated a network node and a mailbox in the packet radio network there.
