The German Additives Museum on the grounds of Hamburg's wholesale market provides information on additives and additives, such as flavor enhancers, aromas, colorants and enzymes in food. Current and historical topics are presented.
The scientific management of the set-up was in the hands of food chemists Georg Schwedt and Udo Pollmer.
The museum is supported by the Hamburg Food Foundation. The chairwoman of the foundation is Friederike Ahlers from the Ahlers family, who is the majority shareholder of FRoSTA AG, a frozen food producer based in Bremerhaven. The Ahlers family is also the main sponsor of the Hamburg Food Foundation.
