Zadnia Kopka, Tatra National Park
Facts and practical information
Zadnia Kopka or Zadnia Kopka Kościeliska - one of the three peaks of Kościeliska Kopka, rising in the reglowa range of the Western Tatras, between Kościeliska Valley and Lejowa Valley. Zadnia Kopka is the highest of them. From the western side it is undercut by the cliff of Swinska Turnia. From Przedniej Kopka is separated by deep Wściekły Żleb, south slopes fall to Zastolanski Żleb. It is built of numulitic limestone, in which there are large quantities of karst waters.
In the nineteenth century, poor iron ore was mined here in a mine called Kopka, then melted in the Old Kościeliska. Zadnia Kopka is mostly forested. The forest on the southern slope was destroyed by a hurricane and was partially covered with larch. There is no tourist trail leading through the peak, but it is perfectly visible for example from Przysłop Kominiarski, Niżniej Polana Kominiarska, Przysłop Miętusi, Hala Upłaz.
