The church of Santa María de la Asunción, is a religious temple of Catholic worship under the invocation of the Virgin of the Assumption in the town of Laredo, autonomous community of Cantabria, in Spain.
Currently, it is considered as BIC, and was declared a Historic-Artistic Monument belonging to the National Artistic Treasure by decree of June 3, 1931. In 1952 the carving of the Virgin of La Soledad was sculpted in walnut wood and with beautiful realistic features, by the painter sculptor from Santander, resident in Laredo, Francisco Velasco Torre.
