Hl. Konstantin u. Helena, Cologne
Facts and practical information
First mentioned in 927, the church of St. Maria Ablass was a three-nave basilica with a western square tower in the northern Cologne suburb of Niederich. It was the church of the convent of St. Ursula's ladies until 1804. It was demolished in 1808 as a result of secularization and the abolition of the convent, as it did not become a parish church. It is commemorated by the small Marian chapel attached to it in former times, the Maria-Ablass Chapel, which is still preserved today. The chapel is now used as the Church of St. Constantine and Helena by Cologne's Russian Orthodox community.
