The Kniepertor is one of the ten former city gates of the Hanseatic city of Stralsund and named after a burgher family of the 13th century. The Kniepertor and Kütertor are the only surviving city gates in Stralsund and are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Historic Old Towns of Stralsund and Wismar.
