Facts and practical information

Alpamare in Bad Tölz, Upper Bavaria, was founded in 1970 as Germany's first surf wave pool and closed on August 30, 2015. With up to 500,000 visitors per year, the bath was for years one of the largest fun and adventure pools in Germany and was designed as a mixture of American-style water park and European thermal spa.

In 1977, a sister spa of the same name was founded in Pfäffikon. In 1999, this was sold to a Spanish group of companies. There continued to be cooperation between the two spas. Since 2016, there has been another Alpamare in Scarborough, UK.
