Carl-Alexander-Turm
Facts and practical information
The Ringberg with the Carl Alexander Tower is a 638.9 m above sea level mountain in the Thuringian Forest near Ruhla in Wartburgkreis, Thuringia. Apart from some castle towers and monuments, the Alexander Tower on its summit is the only preserved historical lookout tower in the western Thuringian Forest. It offers a good view over the Thuringian Forest, over Eisenach with Wartburg Castle, to the Hörsel Mountains, the Thuringian Rhön, the High Meißner, the Hainich and to the town of Ruhla at its feet. With a good distant view, the Brocken in the Harz Mountains can also be seen. Until 1954, it was also greeted by its "younger brother", the Karl Alexander Tower, built in 1890 on the Heldrastein near Treffurt, and dedicated to the same prince.
At the foot of the Ringberg is the mini-a-thür model park with summer toboggan run.
