The Church of the Holy Cross, today Kaufungen Collegiate Church, was donated by Empress Kunigunde and consecrated on July 13, 1025, the first anniversary of the death of her husband, Emperor Henry II. It is part of the former Kaufungen Monastery in the district of Oberkaufungen in the Hessian municipality of Kaufungen in the district of Kassel. The church is considered an important work of late Ottonian art. The west building with arched arcades above two very slender columns, which was uncovered inside in 1938, dates back to pre-Romanesque times.
