Lousberg, Aachen
Facts and practical information
The Lousberg, 264 meters high, is a prominent elevation on the northern edge of the historic center of the city of Aachen, which was designed at the beginning of the 19th century according to plans by Maximilian Friedrich Weyhe as a forest and mountain park. The origin of the name is not completely clear. It could come from lousen, since the mountain offers an excellent panoramic view, or it could go back to Louis the Pious, the son of Charlemagne. Another explanation refers to the expression lous in the Aachen dialect for "clever".
