The Protestant Stiepel Village Church, located in the south of Bochum in the district of Stiepel, is a cultural monument of the Ruhr region, which, with its history of over a thousand years, is one of the oldest surviving buildings in Bochum. The significance of the church lies primarily in the unusually extensive medieval wall paintings. In 1988, the church and its surrounding historic churchyard were listed by the city of Bochum.
