Local History Museum, Reutlingen
Facts and practical information
The Reutlingen Museum of Local History is a museum dedicated to the urban history of the former Free Imperial City, then Württemberg Oberamts- and in the present Baden-Württemberg Kreisstadt Reutlingen. The museum of local history was founded in 1890 by an association for art and antiquity. Its collection was initially housed in changing premises before it found its current location in the former Königsbronner Hof from 1939 onwards. In the museum, which has been expanded and redesigned since 1996, special exhibitions on specific individual topics of the historical development of Reutlingen and its surrounding region are shown at irregular intervals in addition to the permanently present collection of exhibits on the history of events, social history and above all cultural history.
The Museum of Local History and its outposts - the Industrial Magazine, the Museum Im Dorf in the Betzingen district and the Seed Trade Museum in the Gönningen district - are administered by the Reutlingen Cultural Office, whose director is also the curator of the Museum of Local History.
