Haus Havixbeck, Havixbeck
Facts and practical information
Haus Havixbeck is one of the numerous moated castles typical of the Münsterland region. The complex is located in the municipality of Havixbeck in the district of Coesfeld and is a listed building. Although the complex is sometimes called Wasserburg Haus Havixbeck, it is, however, a castle and not a fortress.
The house, built from 1562, originated from a medieval Schulzengut and came at the beginning of the 17th century by marriage to the von Twickel family, in whose possession it still is today. The buildings are inhabited and managed by them and are therefore not open to the public. However, the grounds can be visited as part of a guided tour by the local tourist office.
