Stoolpen Castle - a medieval castle located in the town of Stolpen, partly in ruins. It is located on a 356 meters high hill above sea level. The name of the castle has been borrowed from the phrase "Stolpno" which means "place column" and refers to the ubiquitous rock in the city and at the castle - basalt.
In the castle there is the deepest well hollowed out in a natural stone in the world. It took her to the miners from Eastern Rudawa 24 years old. The depth of the well is 84.4 m.
