Facts and practical information
The former church of St. Augustine is located in Ancona. The building, originally from the 14th century, was completely renovated in the 17th century by Luigi Vanvitelli. In the first years after the Unification of Italy it was used as a barracks and deeply transformed. Because of its artistic value, the richly carved portal, a 15th-century work by Giorgio da Sebenico, was spared; it harmoniously blends Gothic and Renaissance art, as is typical of the Adriatic Renaissance.
