The Sforza Castle Museums are housed inside the Sforza Castle in Milan. They display the civic collection of the City of Milan, established since the nineteenth century, including paintings, sculptures, furniture, ceramics, tapestries, ivories ando applied art objects, musical instruments, books and archaeological collections. The museum layout project, still present in almost its entirety today, was carried out by the famous Milanese firm BBPR, which has become a model for museum layouts. Project carried out in two stages: the first between 1954 and 1956 with the restoration of the Ducal Courtyard and the second with the restoration of the Rocchetta Courtyard in 1963.
