St. Roch Church, Coseano
Facts and practical information
The church of San Rocco is a religious building, located in the center of the town of Coseano, in a setting that still retains the characteristics of ancient rural villages. The building, which had another dedication in the past, presumably dates back to the early 14th century, while its present appearance and dedication date back to the 15th century. Consisting of a rectangular hall with exposed wooden beams and a raised square-plan presbytery covered by a cross vault, the façade dates from 1437 and is characterized by a round-arched opening and a single lancet window with a bell.
The interior contains a 16th-century wooden altar with statues of St. Sebastian and St. Rocco, the work of Giandomenico Dall'Occhio, while in the center is a statue of the Madonna, possibly belonging to the old altarpiece made by Giovanni Martini's workshop in 1522 for the parish church.
