The civil forum of Preneste was the ancient center of the Roman city and included a series of buildings from various periods at what is now Piazza Regina Margherita and below the Cathedral of St. Agapitus Martyr. Connected to the Sanctuary of Fortuna Primigenia above, it was long thought to be a kind of "lower sanctuary" and only later recognized as a forum.
