Facts and practical information
Villetta di Negro - Public Park in Genoa with a hill with the same name, located in the Castelletto district.
On the square in front of the park there is a monument to Giuseppe Mazzini, a Genoese and a fighter for the unification of Italy, while in the park itself a Herma commemorating the poet and Nobel Prize winner Giosuè Carducci was set up.
The park was founded in 1802 by the Marquis Di Negro, who undertook to the councilors that he would create a school in this area and keep it for 6 years. In 1863, after the death of the Marquis, the city bought the entire plot and buildings. The main point of the park full of caves, statues and artificial waterfalls is the hill, from which the panorama of Genoi offers and at the top of which is the villa of the Marquis. Initially, the Museum of Natural History was organized, followed by the Museum of Geology and the Museum of Archeology. Today, Willa is the seat of the Museum of Oriental Art named after Edoard Chiossone.
