Facts and practical information
The Deruta Regional Museum of Ceramics is the oldest Italian museum for ceramics. It was founded in 1898 thanks to the Deruta notary Francesco Briganti, who had the idea of establishing an "artistic museum for majolica workers." The title, already present in the first museum catalog compiled by Angelo Micheletti in 1900 carried within itself the purposes that the cultural institution was to pursue: not only a place of conservation and culture but also a useful exhibition model for the workers.
