Villa Necchi Campiglio, Milan
Facts and practical information
Villa Necchi Campiglio is a historic mansion that is part of the "Milan House Museums" circuit.
Located at 14 Mozart Street, it was built between 1932 and 1935 as a detached single-family house designed by Piero Portaluppi, one of the greatest Italian architects of that period, and is surrounded by a large garden with a tennis court and swimming pool, the second swimming pool in Milan after the municipal one, and the first to be built on private land.
Among the personalities who were hosted there was Henry of Hesse, a set designer for La Scala Theater; he was accommodated during his stays in the Lombard capital in a room named in his honor Prince's Room. There was also the Princess's Room, reserved for Princess Maria Gabriella of Savoy, a great friend of the Necchi sisters.
