Amphitheater, Pompeii

The Amphitheater of Pompeii stands as a remarkable testament to the grandeur of ancient Roman architecture and entertainment. Located in the city of Pompeii, Italy, this ancient structure dates back to 80 BC, making it one of the oldest surviving Roman amphitheaters in existence. Unlike the later Colosseum in Rome, the Pompeii Amphitheater is largely intact, providing visitors with an authentic glimpse into the past.

Carved out of the earth to provide ample seating, the amphitheater could accommodate approximately 20,000 spectators, a testament to the importance of public spectacles in Roman society.
