Teatro Fabbricone, Prato
Facts and practical information
The Fabbricone Theater is a theater in Prato.
In 1974 Luca Ronconi created an innovative staging of the Oresteia in a warehouse of the Fabbricone industrial complex built in 1947. Thus began an alternative experience to the traditional stage space of Italian-style theater.
Given the closure of the Politeama Theater, this space became the second theater in Prato after the Metastasio Theater, opening up to theatrical experimentation and avant-garde research as evidenced by the many productions staged here that made the history of research theater in the last decades of the twentieth century.
Works by the greatest names in international directing from Peter Brook, to Andrzej Wajda, Tadeusz Kantor, Otomar Krejča, Anatoli Vassiliev, and Thierry Salmon have been presented here.
The current drafting is the result of renovations carried out in 2000 according to the design of engineer Francesco Stopaccioli.
