Castel Toblino, Calavino

Castel Toblino is a rare example of a lake castle. Located in the Valle dei Laghi valley between Padergnone and Sarche in the municipality of Madruzzo, in the province of Trento.

The structure is perched on a small, protected peninsula washed by the lake of the same name. Its location has obvious reasons for a defensive strategy that here exploits both the natural conditions of the terrain and the presence of the important road junction linking Trento with the Sarca and Chiese valleys.

The quadrangular shape of the complex finds one of its most interesting signs in the large circular keep, certainly the most obvious of the medieval pre-existences. The wide crenellated walls surrounding the entire complex and the large park surrounding the residence add to its distinctive character. The castle is currently private property. Visits are possible, with prior reservation, as well as overnight stays and catering.
