Facts and practical information
The church of Our Lady of Itria is located in the historic center of Orani, in the Sa Itria district.
The temple, erected in the 17th century, was originally dedicated to St. Julian. It was later named after Our Lady of Itria.
The simple facade is surmounted by a curvilinear tympanum and has a small rose window above the portal; the wall surface of the elevation is adorned with a graffito by Costantino Nivola, created in 1959. The interior has a single barrel-vaulted nave with side chapels. The presbytery, in Gothic style, has a ribbed cross vault, decorated with frescoes depicting angels and cherubs, dating from the 18th century and attributed to the workshop of Pietro Antonio and Gregorio Are, authors in several churches in the Nuoro area of fresco cycles in popular Baroque style.
The central niche of the high altar houses the valuable 17th-century statue of Our Lady of Itria, decorated with the Estofado de oro technique.
