Church of the Holy Cross, Tempio Pausania
Facts and practical information
The church of Santa Croce is a religious building located in Tempio Pausania, a town in Gallura, northeastern Sardinia. The church is located in St. Peter's Square and stands next to St. Peter's Cathedral with which it shares the bell tower.
The discovery, during a recent restoration, of an outcropping rock placed under the presbytery bearing the Greek letter Y, leads one to believe the building's origin to be very ancient, more so than that of the nearby cathedral. It housed the confraternity of the same name until 1813, when it was suppressed.
