Chiesa di Sant'Anastasia Martire, Buddusò
Facts and practical information
The church of Santa Anastasia is a place of worship located in the historic center of Buddusò, on Parrocchia Street. Consecrated to Catholic worship in 1894, it is the seat of the parish of the same name and is part of the diocese of Ozieri. The church is dedicated to the patron saint of the village, who is celebrated every September 23.
Very old in layout and built with chiseled granite blocks, the building was profoundly renovated beginning in 1836. In its present state it has a gabled facade with exposed ashlars, entrance portal also gabled surmounted by a round-headed arched window embellished with stained glass windows.
The cross is positioned in the center, between the sloping roofs, while on the right rises the bell tower, with a square reed crowned by a spire.
The single-nave interior hall has a Latin cross plan, entirely vaulted. Two large stained-glass windows in the apse ensure that light enters the chancel, the latter raised four steps above the church floor. Two large windows in the apse ensure its illumination from outside.
The church, embellished with statues and mosaics, also holds two paintings from 1754, works by Neapolitan painter Gerolamo Ruffino.
