Torre di Federico II, Castroreale
Facts and practical information
Castroreale Castle is located in Castroreale, an Italian municipality in the metropolitan city of Messina. The surviving vestiges stand on the top of the relief where the settlement of the ancient "Crizzina" or "Cristina" was documented, a short distance from the present historic center.
A distinctive element of the fortification is the keep or male or dongione consisting of a circular keep connected with buildings of various periods. One of the chronologically more recent buildings attached to it is intended as a youth hostel.
