Palazzo Visconti-Castelli, Canegrate
Facts and practical information
The Visconti-Castelli palace is a historic building in Canegrate. The building has an "L" plan with the main facade facing north and the secondary wing facing east, towards the Olona valley. Originally the building was planned for a larger extension: the building was to develop from a central body with two wings originating from the latter immersed in an impressive garden. The reasons for the interruption of the work are not known. Over time the villa was used as a spinning mill, silk cocoon warehouse and underwent numerous alterations. Today the building is fractionated into small apartments. The original park was later parceled out and the garden in front of the villa sold.
