Church of San Leonardo
Facts and practical information
The church of San Leonardo is a church located in Serra Pistoiese, a hamlet of Marliana, in the province of Pistoia.
It assumed its present dimensions after the partial destruction of the castle by Castruccio Castracani in 1327; its interior, divided into three naves, preserves carved Romanesque capitals and impressive 18th-century altars, as well as a remarkable collection of silverware, paintings and sculptures.
These include the fine Madonna and Child in polychrome terracotta from the early 16th century, visible within the altar at the head of the left aisle.
A similar sculpture, but smaller in size and much repainted, is preserved in the Company of the Blessed Sacrament.
