Chiesa di Nostra Signora di Bonaria
Facts and practical information
The church of Our Lady of Bonaria is a religious building located in the territory of Osilo, a town in northwestern Sardinia. It is consecrated to Catholic worship and is part of the parish of the Immaculate Conception, Archdiocese of Sassari. The building, dating from the 17th century, has a single-nave hall ending in an apse.
The church, about three kilometers from the town, is positioned on the highest peak of Mount Tuffudesu, at an altitude of 766, from which it dominates the Gulf of Asinara and much of the province of Sassari. Thanks to this happy position, cartographer-general Alberto La Marmora placed one of his trigonometric signs on the roof.
